You don't really expect a door to possess an acoustic charm, but that's what you get with the Guitar Doorbell from Hammacher Schlemmer. A fully playable half-size acoustic six-string guitar, it's mounted over a doorway and plays a chord of one's choice when a door is opened or closed. A plectrum fixed to a flexible spring sweeps across the strings and an included pitch pip and chord chart are keyed to specify the chord to be played. The guitar has a spruce laminate top, solid rosewood bridge and fingerboard, and sapele neck, allowing normal play when removed from the mounting board with the included re-usable fasteners.
